Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)

Contracting a specialist provider to run a business process, such as customer support or finance, on your behalf.

Business process outsourcing, or BPO, is the practice of contracting a specialist provider to run a defined business process for you, rather than staffing it in-house. Common examples are customer support, finance and accounting, data entry and back-office administration.

The point is not simply lower cost. A good BPO partner brings trained people, tested processes and technology to a function so your own team can focus on the work only it can do. Contracts usually set out the scope, the service levels and how performance is measured.
